That I actually think about posting everyday, but for one reason or another it doesn’t always happen. Suffice to say I have some catching up to do…as usual. Here are a few photos from the night we all went to temple square. It was sooo cold I’m not sure we even stayed out there for longer than 30 minutes. Despite the winter chill it’s a fun life long tradition that I’m glad I was able to experience again with my family.
My basement has been driving me crazy or I should say the lack of organization for my girl’s toys has been driving me crazy. To think that Christmas is on it’s way is enough for me to try to do something about this problem. So all day yesterday I put up shelves, bought storage bins, and organized the toys. I found it so satisfying to do and the girls even got way into it. They each took one of the small bins for themselves and demanded a label for it. This started the labeling craze so now all the bins are neatly labeled and in place. It’s unbelievable how much stuff you find just by emptying everything out and starting over. I must say when I look at the closet and realize it’s completely full, I don’t know where the new toys are going to go. We for sure need to have each of the kids give away one big item. It just gets to be too much. Anyone else with me on that? So I mentioned the girls were so excited…Bella said, “we have a new house.” and Tess wanted to have a sleepover in the living room. I was glad they were as thrilled with the project as I. Perhaps they will keep it looking like this for more than 24 hours. We’ll see I guess, but I’m not counting on it.
Love the temple pictures. I will have to say I am enjoying them sitting inside a warm house. It did look cold.
I organize and dejunk every December before Christmas all my binds to make room for more toys. So I can totally relate to doing that. They look great!
You organization skills inspire me. I hope to get my boys toys organized into bins before my baby comes, so thanks for the pics, it helps give me something to go on.
Your temple pics are beautiful. They totally make me feel warm and fuzzy, and remind me of the things I enjoy this time of year.
L-O-V-E the temple pics. I missed out last year, so we are trying to schedule a time to go this year. Carter has been so excited about everything Christmas (or as he says Kissmas), the lights, the tree, the decorations, the music he will love temple square.
I get this sick thrill out of organization, so even looking at your pictures makes me happy. It looks great.
wow love the pictures. you do have talent for those organizing skills.
I love the temple picture, I might just have to buy it off of you for our cards next year.
That is one of my favorite traditions is having the kids pick three things and one big thing that they want to give away around their birthday and Christmas. I have certain toys that I don’t give since the younger one plays with. We talk about who is going to find it in the store and how happy it will make them. It makes my life easier, and the mess managable.
Love the pictures, I really need a much better camera than what I have, my lights are always blurry.
Coming from a neat freak, I think your girls will have incentive to keep your basement clean because you did everything right in organzing it. They helped, so they know how much work went into cleaning it. And everything is labeled, so the system makes sense to them. I love the idea of giving up toys you don’t use at Christmastime. It helps with the spirit of giving. Our nursery asked for donations, so I think I’ll have Alexis give away some things to our ward.
Awesome temple square pictures. Maybe when we get a freakishly warm day before the end of the year we’ll take the trek out and see the lights.
Awesome photos. I haven’t been to temple square to see the lights for a couple of years.
I love the idea of sorting and purging the toys in November to get ready for Christmas. Maybe next year I’ll really do it!
