I had been trying to come up with a good gift to give Bella’s kindergarten teacher. I like her a lot. I think she’s a great teacher and has been really good to Bella. So I decided to make her a personalized bag. Inspired by (now I know) the fabulously talented Kristi.
Bella picked out the fabric, she said her teacher loves butterflies, and Kathy my busy mother-in-law was willing to embroider the name for me. Anyway, Saturday night after all the craziness I was able to sit down and finish it. Not only was I able to finish the bag for Mrs. White, but I was able to make one for myself. I have for sometime wanted to make another one for me and when I saw the polka-dot fabric at Joanns I couldn’t resist.
I wish I sewed more; however, when I get into these kind of projects I know why I only sew what I do. It takes so much time and then there’s the unpicking that it drives me nuts. Kristi I could sure use a few pointers is you don’t mind sharing with me on Friday.
I am glad that I took the time and made them. I love the way they turned out. Especially mine. It makes me very happy.
is there anything you cant do??? these bags are darling. I really want to learn to sew, it seems the possibilities are endless with that talent!
The bags are so darling. I’m sure that will be Mrs. White’s favorite gift. I’m always amazed by how easily these things come for you. Sewing is something I wish I was better at (remember the toy soldier bib?). Yikes.
The bags are adorable. What a sweet gift for Bella’s teacher. My entire book club was in awe at the bags and I think we are going to try and make them this summer. Although I can’t seem to sew straight. Does that just come with practice? I LOVE the polka dot fabric. Too Cute!
Oh. My. Gosh. Those are painfully cute! You’re making me want to break out my sewing machine and sew! I’ll bet Bella’s teacher will love it!
I love these, I would love to sew in a way that I could just sit down and do it. I am horrible about it. Such a fun idea.
Amy, these bags are unbelieveable. I love that size and would love to know the measurements if you could email it to me. I have only made a small tote size so far, but I would love more of a diaper bag size. You are so talented! I absolutely LOVE the polka dot fabric. It’s now on my list of “what I would buy if I were in Utah”.
So cute! I might need to dust off my sewing machine and just go for it. Maybe buy some cheap fabric first to make sure I can do it before trying some cute stuff. So awesome!
That polka dot fabric is to die for. I wish I knew how to make those! Too cute. And what a fabulous teacher gift.
