For years I have been trying to decided what I should do for an advent calendar. I loved them as a child, but have yet to give that pleasure to my girls. I saw a couple at Target I liked, but decided I really wanted to make one. Of course that is what I say every year and every year I don’t get it done in time.

So this year I set out to do something before December so I could actually use it on time. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do until I saw the recent pottery barn magazine. On a pin board they had white tags numbered 1-24 and each tag had a hanging ornament. I loved it so much I knew this was what I was going to do.

I still haven’t figured out what to hang from each tag, I’m sure it will be candy of some sort, so I’m not completely finish, but the hardest parts done. The girls helped me poke holes in the canvas and place the brads and are very excited for the idea of counting down Christmas with treats each day. Actually so am I.

If your interested this is what I did.
Painted a blank 18×24 canvas
made tags from holiday paper, cut them to 2.5″ x 5.25″ and clipped corners
added embellishments
printed out numbers
poke hole through canvas for the brads
Place brads

It was super super easy and once the tag were made it went very fast.
