I have for sometime wanted to dabble in films. I made my first one last year after SquamArtWorkshops in September and I loved it so much I can’t believe it’s taken me just as long to create another one. I find it a bit overwhelming, gathering all the media and such, but once I get started I love the process. I can see how it can be quite addicting — all I want to do all day is make another one.

What I’m learning through this whole process is how limited you are to your footage. I’ve always found it troublesome, when it comes to video, to know just what to capture in the moment, but I guess you could say the same for photography, and like photography, I believe once you let go and stop thinking about it, it will become intuitive. I talked to my classes about that, the more you pick up your camera, the more you allow the camera to be an extension of you, the less you think about the how to. I do hope video will bring with it the same learning curve as I have lots to learn and a long way to go.

Luckily I’m not going to do it on my own, I have sign up to take Xanthe Berkeley’s Time Capsule e-course. I’m hoping it will help not only with my video skills, but help me to see the moments that long to be filmed instead of photographed.

Without further ado, by the sea….
